Now, let's define the word "lost" as used in the Bible.

The KJV New Testament Greek Lexicon transliterated word for lost is "Apollumi". It mean to "destroy", "put to death". Dictionary.com defines death as "the end of life". To my surprise, dictionary.com listed this as death, "Also called spiritual death. loss or absence of spiritual life." So death can mean "absence of Spiritual Life. The absences of the Spirit of God". Death in the Bible means "separation". When a person dies, their body is separated from their soul and spirit. They are separated from their family members and friends that live on earth. Unless man has Biblical faith in the God of the Bible, he will forever be separated from God. Man never ceases to exist. He will live forever, either in Heaven or Hell. I will discuss this more thoroughly later in this dissertation. The word "lost" is used by most Christians to describe the spiritual condition of a person that has never received Christ as their life. Why is it used to describe a spiritual condition?

Let's go back in the Bible to Genesis as it records how God created the first man, Adam.

Genesis 1:26,27 AMP
God said, " Let Us *[Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind *("Adam" in the Hebrew Lexicon) in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the *[tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. So God created man *(Adam) in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male *(Adam) and female *(Eve) He created them.
* I inserted for clarity

Genesis 2:7 KJV
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground *(body), and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life *(Spirit); and man became a living soul.*(soul)

God placed Adam in the garden of Eden and then God created Eve to be the wife to Adam. He told them not to eat from a tree called the knowledge of good and evil. For if they eat from that tree they shall surely die. They disobeyed God and ate of the tree. Now keep in mind that death means separation. That very day Adam and Eve died a Spiritual death. Adam and Eve LOST the image of God *(Spirit of God ) that day and they were cast out from the garden of Eden. They are now separated from God. It was many years later that they died physically. Do you see what they lost? Adam, head of the human race, passed on this lostness *(the human spirit void of the Spirit of God) to the entire human race. All mankind is born in the image of Adam.

Genesis 5:3
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: Read 1 Corinthians 15;45-49 Do a study on the image of God and see who it refers to.

Hebrews 1:1-3
Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came to this earth, died for the sin of the world *(lostness), was buried and three days later He was resurrected from the dead. He did this in order to restore what Adam lost. When a person receives Christ through repentance and faith, only then will the image of God be restored to him and he will bear that image to lost humanity. As Ian Thomas said, "The Christian is the visible, physical, audible expression of the Invisible God". Can others see Jesus in you?

REDEMPTION AND SALVATION - SINNER TO SAINT

1. YOU ARE LOST hopelessly, helplessly, without God.
Ephesians 2:1  And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2) Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3) Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

2. YOU ARE GREATLY LOVED by God and His Son Jesus.
John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish , but have everlasting life.

3. YOU CAN HAVE A NEW LIFE in Christ.
REPENT

RECEIVE
