Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.

The Christ-Life Experience

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

Matthew 10:39 - One must lose his life (self) to have Life (Christ). Life out of death, the way up is down, strength out of weakness.

Ephesians 2:6 - If we live out of our position in Christ, we see our earthly circumstances from a Heavenly point of view. KEEP LOOKING DOWN from your Heavenly position!

John 8:32 - Obeying revealed Truth will set you free.

John 14:6 - Jesus is the Truth. Truth is Perfect. Truth is Perfectly Balanced. If Truth were a road, it would be perfectly straight. If a vehicle traveling the road of Truth veered to the right or left, it would end up STUCK IN A DITCH ! Are you traveling the straight and narrow or stuck in a theological ditch!

Joshua 6:1-21 - Joshua marched God's people around the walled city of Jericho 1 time a day for 6 days. On the 7th day he marched them around the walled city 7 times and the walls fell. 6 is the number of man. The wall remained standing after 6 times of marching around it. Jesus said you can do nothing without me. When they marched around the walls 7 times, the walls fell. 7 is God's perfect number. What number is at work in you?

2 Peter 1:3,4 - The written word (Bible) was designed to bring us to know the Living Word (Jesus Christ).

John 1:1-3,14 - The Bible should never be bypassed nor neglected. It is the holy, inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16 - Have you read your Bible lately?

WHAT IS THE CHRIST-LIFE? - PART I

What is the Christ-Life? It is when a believer truly surrenders all that he is to all that Christ is. This surrendering comes when a believer's heart is broken out of desperation for nothing but Christ. In this desperation, the believer is so tired and sick of his self-life trying to perform what only Christ can do. As one pastor described it, " I went to my study, sat down, threw my hands in the air in great discouragement and said, "God, I can't do this anymore". God spoke to his heart and said, " I never asked YOU too". The pastor said, "I 'm throwing in the towel!". God said, " GOOD". The pastor said, "I quit!" God said, "It's about time you quit and surrendered unto Me".

Many well meaning Christians will roll their sleeves up and go to work for God. They will attempt to do something for God and then ask Him to bless their efforts. This may sound strange to you because this is the way you serve God. I did this for years. When we try to do things for God ministry will eventually become a burden instead of a blessing. When the life of Christ becomes your life, the stress, strains, and struggles will cease (Galatians 2;20).

Here are just a few terms in the Scriptures that describe the Christ-Life.

The Spirit-filled Life (Romans 5:18)
The Faith-Life (2 Corinthians 5:7, Galatians 2;20, 3:11)
The Abiding-Life (John 15)
The Abundant-Life (John 10:10)
The Life of Rest (Matthew 11:28-30, Hebrews 4:9-11)

The Holy Spirit began to shed the light of this truth of the Christ-Life into my heart in November of 2007. Even though I have been preaching the Gospel since 1981, I now experience the peace of God and His rest in a greater depth like never before. I no longer feel the pressure to try to perform or try all kinds of new church growth programs to grow the church. Instead of trying, I am now trusting the Lord Jesus Christ to work in and through me (Philippians 2:13). Jesus said, Without me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)

Are you working for God or is God working in and through you? There is a difference.

HOW TO HAVE A HAPPY NEW-YEAR!

January is the month that millions of people make decisions to do or not to do something. Most will call their decision a New Year's resolution or turning over a new leaf. The number one decision for years has been to join an exercise and weight loss program. For me, I plan to join the "Y" again and cut back on my food intake. This is a good decision for one to take care of their body and health. But any decision concerning our body should not take control over us. Paul says in 1 Timothy 4:8 KJV "For bodily exercise profiteth little : but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is (Christ Life, Oneness), and of that which is to come (Heaven)." Words in parenthesis are mine. Paul did not say we should never exercise, but exercise should never become the love of our life. As anything else that is not Christ. (Revelation 2:4)

How do we keep Christ the love of our life? Surrender all that you are to all that He is. Worship Him for who He is. Obedience to Romans 6 will bring you into experiencing your "Oneness" with Christ. When this happens, the believer will enjoy the fruit of the spirit as his life. Others around him will witness the fact that Christ Jesus is working in and through Him. Anyone that is Spirit-filled (Christ Life) will enjoy being together at church with their brothers and sisters in Christ. Christ will call them and work in and through them to be pastors, deacons, teachers ,or whatever He desires for their life. "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."  (Philippians 2:13) May you lose a few pounds and have a Happy New Year in Christ!

Thought - Without a total surrender to Christ, we will allow things to take control of our life. When this happens, we lose our joy, ministry becomes a burden and Christ will not be visible to an on-looking world.

Prayer - Heavenly Father, I confess all sins the Spirit reveals to my heart. I surrender all that I am to all that You are. Reference Scripture - Romans 12:1-5, 1 Corinthians 6:15-20.
